Borealis Stay opened in 2018 on a ridge just outside Lavik, chosen specifically for its near-total darkness and unobstructed view over Sognefjorden. What began as a handful of glass-roof cabins has grown into a 24-suite boutique hotel, without losing the intimacy of its beginning.
Every design decision — from the retractable glass ceilings to the direction each window faces — was made with one goal: to put the Arctic sky at the center of the stay, not just the view from it.
Lavik sits on Norway's longest fjord, far from city light pollution, giving Borealis Stay some of the clearest dark-sky views in the country and a chance at the northern lights on strong-activity nights.
